New York City, NY - On September 17, 2026, seven Native high school students from the Lindy Waters III Foundation’s College Prep Program had the opportunity to visit New York University (NYU) for a day of exploration, learning, and discovering new possibilities for their futures.

A particularly meaningful part of the day was connecting with members of NYU’s Native community. Students learned more about Indigenous Studies programs and opportunities at NYU and had the chance to connect with Native students through the Native American and Indigenous Student Group (NAISG). These conversations gave students an opportunity to hear directly from other Native students about their experiences in higher education and the communities they have found along the way.

College visits are an important part of the Foundation’s College Prep Program, giving Native youth the opportunity to experience college campuses firsthand and begin to envision themselves in those spaces. Through year-round advising, mentorship, campus visits, and support throughout the college process, the program works to help students explore their options and build pathways toward their goals.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone at NYU who welcomed our students and worked with us to create such a meaningful experience. Thank you for helping our students explore new possibilities and see what may be possible for their own futures.
