San Antonio, TX - On April 6, 2026, the San Antonio Spurs hosted Native American Heritage Night, an evening dedicated to celebrating Indigenous culture, community, and representation on one of basketball’s biggest stages. In collaboration with American Indians in Texas at the Spanish Colonial Missions, the Lindy Waters III Foundation, and Nike N7, the night brought together Native voices, artists, and youth for a powerful and intentional celebration.

Throughout the evening, the arena became a space where culture and sport intersected in meaningful ways. From in game recognitions to dynamic performances by Native artists, each moment was designed to honor the richness and diversity of Indigenous communities. A land acknowledgment grounded the night in respect and reflection, while cultural performances created moments of visibility that are too often missing from mainstream sports spaces. These elements served as more than symbolic gestures. They reflected a deeper commitment to representation and inclusion.

Beyond the game, the impact of Native American Heritage Night extended into the community through a youth basketball clinic hosted in partnership with the Spurs. Young athletes had the opportunity to learn the game, build confidence, and connect with mentors who share and celebrate their identities. Moments like these are at the heart of our mission, creating spaces where Indigenous youth feel seen, supported, and inspired to pursue their goals both on and off the court.

Native American Heritage Night was more than a single event. It was a reflection of what is possible when organizations come together with intention. Through partnership, storytelling, and community engagement, the night highlighted the power of representation and the importance of investing in Indigenous youth. These experiences leave a lasting impact by helping to build confidence, strengthen community ties, and inspire the next generation of leaders.
