Native High School Students Explore Opportunities at USC Campus Visit

Los Angeles, CA - On February 13, 2026, the Lindy Waters III Foundation hosted nine Native high school students for an unforgettable visit to the University of Southern California (USC), where they had the chance to explore campus life, learn about academic pathways, and connect with current students and professionals.

The day included a guided tour of USC’s vibrant campus in Los Angeles, giving students an up‑close look at academic buildings, residence halls, and student life spaces. Participants also enjoyed a meal together in one of the university’s dining halls—an opportunity to experience campus culture while building community with peers.

Throughout the visit, students heard from a series of engaging speakers who shared valuable insights into college preparation. Topics included the college application process, how to navigate financial aid and scholarship opportunities. Current USC students and staff offered firsthand perspectives on academic life, and making the most of the university experience.

“We designed this visit specifically for Native high school students to see themselves in these spaces, ask questions, and begin to picture what their future in higher education could look like,” said Nizhoni Begay, leader of the College Prep Program at the Lindy Waters III Foundation. “The conversations were thoughtful, the curiosity was inspiring, and the connections made will have lasting impact.”

This event is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting Native youth on their path to higher education. Experiences like the USC College Visit help demystify the college process, provide early exposure to campus environments, and build confidence as students take steps toward their academic goals.

We look forward to offering similar opportunities in the future and continuing to support emerging Native leaders as they pursue their educational journeys.
